The Role

Have you enjoyed teaching in Primary and would like to develop your skills to help students make a smooth transition to Secondary School?

Our students need your expertise and we want to learn from you to improve our provision and outcomes for vulnerable learners. We are looking for a passionate, talented and specialist teacher to join our dedicated team. You will be part of the Year 7 transition team and you will have the exciting and unique opportunity to shape a KS3 curriculum that is bespoke, supportive and challenging and fit for the needs of 21st Century life. There is the potential for leadership roles both pastorally and academically in the future for the right candidate.

We are looking for an inspirational teacher who embraces creativity, innovation and is always looking for the very best practice in teaching. They will share the School's vision and the belief that all young people can achieve at high levels. The successful candidate will teach small groups of students a highly personalised curriculum for English and Maths and will also deliver effective and evidence-based small group interventions. They may also deliver study support sessions helping children with coursework and exam skills. They will work closely with our mental health lead and team of mental health practitioners to ensure students are offered a nurturing environment to enable them to catch up with their peers and make expected progress.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES (IN ADDITION TO THE TEACHERS’ STANDARDS)

Teaching and Learning

9. Planning and preparing schemes of learning and lessons, which are bespoke and targeted for students with SEND
10. To contribute to the design of the curriculum to ensure it is exciting, relevant, challenging and personalised
11. To ensure that all students are making good or outstanding progress and that teaching and learning is of a high standard
12. Promoting the general progress and well-being of individual students and of any class or group of students assigned to her/him
13. To contribute to CPD across the School and share best practice via coaching, sharing planning and resources and following an 'open door' teaching policy
14. To ensure Personalisation has a high profile across the School through offering vibrant and exciting learning opportunities for all students.
15. To ensure that resources are organised and available to promote a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place, through a mix of traditional teaching techniques and specialist SEN teaching methods, integrating ICT where appropriate and via project based learning
16. Advising and co-operating with other teaching staff, as well as other adults providing in-class partnership teaching, on the preparation and development of programmes of study and teaching materials.

Progress and Attainment

17. To ensure assessment, feedback and monitoring is SMART, accurate and clearly moves students’ learning on particularly in English and Maths
18. To rigorously analyse student data to inform planning and intervention programmes
19. To lead and attend internal and external meetings as required
20. To participate in the ASSESS, PLAN, DO, REVIEW cycle for students with SEND
21. To feedback to students and parents / carers in line with the School policy
22. Keeping records of the achievement and progress of students.
23. Keeping records of, and profiles on, the Special Educational needs of students

Behaviour and Safety

24. To collaborate closely with parents to ensure that they are aware of their child's progress, engaged in their development and in supporting them in their vision for the future
25. To ensure the absolute safety of all students on and off site
26. To model and enforce excellent standards of behaviour within and beyond the faculty
27. To monitor students achievement, attendance, uniform, punctuality and behaviour and to respond promptly to issues in line with the school’s policies
28. To participate in the School’s pastoral system as required

School Improvement

29. To support the School’s marketing and recruitment plan through attending events, contributing to marketing materials and via high quality interactions with feeder primary schools
30. To embody the School’s values both on and off site
31. To coach and mentor colleagues as appropriate
32. To take on any other duties as reasonably required by the Senior Leadership Team
