Position Description
JOIN OUR TEAM to assist and prepare approximately 200,000 service members who separate annually from the United States Military and begin a new life chapter as civilians. The Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS) program requires contractor services to support these transitioning service members through its highly successful Transition Assistance Program (TAP), which is offered worldwide to conduct job assistance workshops, employment counseling, and connect with approved government and non-government partners. Our team ensures service members and their families have the necessary career tools and information to seamlessly transition into the civilian workforce.
The DOL VETS TAP program seeks a skilled and compassionate Facilitator with prior experience teaching and/or instructing military personnel transitioning to civilian professional and vocational occupations.
In this role, you will:
1. Teach and instruct military personnel transitioning to civilian professional and vocational occupations.
2. Guide transitioning military service members in identifying goals and recognizing employment or education gaps.
3. Provide comprehensive understanding of preparing for civilian employment, including job searching, application processes, networking, technical training, and credentialing, to service members, family members, and veterans.
4. Assist in preparing for civilian employment and participation in technical programs and schools.
5. Conduct small and large group instruction on the job search process.
6. Deliver standardized curriculum via in-person or virtual classrooms.
7. Complete administrative tasks promptly, including travel expenses and classroom reports. Facilitators will be assigned to a location within a hub with satellite locations.
8. Travel reimbursement is provided for assignments over 50 miles from the assigned location.
9. Complete 80 hours of paid initial training within the first month of employment.
10. Work schedules are generally 2-3 days consecutively, with flexibility for part-time facilitators.

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma with 3 years of experience as a trainer, facilitator, or instructor, or an Associate's degree with relevant experience. Candidates should understand employment processes in both private and public sectors, be familiar with workplace requirements, and capable of training groups up to 50 participants. Proficiency in MS Windows and Office, strong communication skills with military clients and government representatives, and the ability to work independently are essential.
