Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: £20,422 - £21,111.51
Contract Term: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract - Term Time Only
Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Hours: 08:30 - 16:30
At Apple Orchard, we are dedicated to supporting adolescent males facing complex needs stemming from early trauma. Our trauma-informed approach focuses on developing the whole person, empowering them to achieve transitional milestones.
We are excited to invite a passionate One to One Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team! This full-time role runs Monday to Friday, from 08:30 to 16:30, during term time only. While primarily based at one site, you may also support students at local PE venues and, eventually, in college settings.
Key Responsibilities
As a vital member of our team, you will:
* Collaborate with the Headteacher and class teachers to:
o Implement our therapeutic approach within the Apple Orchard environment.
o Support the pupil's learning in both group settings and individually by:
+ Clarifying and explaining instructions.
+ Ensuring the pupil can effectively use provided equipment and materials.
+ Motivating and encouraging the pupil with tailored support and reassurance.
o Assist in areas such as speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, and handwriting.
o Utilize praise and constructive feedback to help the pupil stay focused and engaged.
o Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals on Individual Personal Education Plans (PEPs).
o Provide additional nurture as requested by the class teacher or SENCO.
o Implement agreed behavior management strategies consistently.
o Build supportive relationships with the pupil.
o Encourage acceptance and inclusion of pupils with SEN, fostering positive interactions.
o Monitor and adapt learning activities to meet the pupil's needs and achieve learning outcomes.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
* A minimum qualification of GCSE A-C or equivalent in Maths and English.
* A Level 3 or above Teaching Assistant qualification.
* An understanding of the challenges faced by students with Emotional, Behavioural, or Social needs.
* The ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit team.
