About the role
As a Supermarket Assistant, you help our difference be felt by our customers on every visit, providing the Partner-led service and passion for food that our customers expect. Your drive to go the extra mile will make a difference to the impression customers have about the Waitrose brand and help earn their trust and loyalty.
If you are employed on or before 4 October 2025, in addition to the pay stated, you will receive a shift premium for hours worked between 22:00 and 06:00. This will be paid at the pay range minimum rate for your role.
Key Responsibilities
* Stock replenishment – ensuring shelves remain full and products are in the right place at the right time for customers.
* Fulfilling online customer orders ready for drivers to deliver shopping direct to customers’ doors.
* Reducing wastage by following product due diligence and applying markdowns to products nearing their sell-by dates.
* Working with the wider shop team to support when needed, including checkout support, managing Click & Collect orders, fulfilling on-demand orders, and more.
* Maintain a safe and tidy working environment with general shopkeeping tasks.
Essential skills/experience you’ll need
* Communication skills to work effectively as part of a team and with customers.
Desirable skills/experience you may have
* Experience in a customer-facing role is welcomed.
* Up-to-date knowledge and strong interest in food and drink trends.
* Flexible approach to support the whole branch.
Varied hours of part-time work across seven days to include early starts, late finishes, evenings and weekends between 06:30 and 23:00.
