Counsellor/Psychotherapist – Be U Wirral
Job Summary: Provide person‑centred, evidence‑based counselling interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health challenges. Support emotional wellbeing and resilience through individual and group sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver therapeutic interventions to Children Looked After (CLA), working independently when required.
* Conduct professional initial assessments and provide counselling, continuing professional consultations, and group work.
* Maintain accurate and confidential case notes using designated case‑management systems.
* Build and maintain links with other agencies, signpost and arrange referrals.
* Manage risk positively and respond proactively to child protection and safeguarding concerns.
* Communicate effectively with children, young people, parents/carers and colleagues, ensuring a respectful, supportive environment.
* Collaborate with the Clinical Lead and Service Lead to design innovative, client‑focused care pathways and sustainable recovery plans.
* Participate in professional supervision (minimum 1.5 hours per FTE per month).
Qualifications & Experience:
* Minimum 24 months post‑qualification counselling/psychotherapy experience.
* Professional registration with a recognised national body (e.g., BACP, UKCP, HCPC, etc.).
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and managing a caseload.
* Ability to assess and manage risks, recognise and respond to child protection concerns.
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of CYP emotional wellbeing and early mental health best practice.
* Desirable: Experience in the CLA sector, quality improvement, pathway development, and training delivery to CYP and professionals.
Benefits & Conditions:
* Salary: £25,000 – £29,000 per year (pro‑rata part‑time).
* Contract: Permanent with flexible full‑time or part‑time options.
* Working pattern: Full‑time, part‑time, flexible working.
* Location: A B L Health Ltd, Vittoria Close, Birkenhead, Merseyside, CH41 3LE.
Professional Requirements:
* Adopt the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
* Maintain paid membership (e.g., BACP, UKCP) and complete CPD to uphold accreditation.
* Liability insurance provided by ABL.
* Comply with information governance, GDPR, Health & Safety, Safeguarding policies and a mandatory smoke‑free environment.
