Staffordshire County Council, This role is all about creating and running an amazing apprenticeship program here at the council with a focus on building career pathways that not only help us to fulfil our vacancies, but also to offer opportunities for those starting out in their career.

As the face of apprenticeships, you'll build strong relationships with hiring managers, training providers and candidates to make sure early careers can grow and succeed at Staffordshire County Council. It's your chance to build a new program that supports fresh talent and importantly gives extra support and opportunity to those who need it most such as our care leavers and those starting a career journey.

You'll be part of our wider People Services team. In People Services we lead the way in making Staffordshire a great place to work by handling everything from helping staff grow their skills, creating a safe and positive workplace, and supporting employees.

Main Responsibilities

This role is all about leading and supporting apprenticeship programs to make sure they match the Council's goals and meet industry standards. You'll use your knowledge of apprenticeship frameworks to keep everything on track. Building strong connections with apprentices, their managers, and training providers will be at the heart of your work, helping everyone grow and succeed together.

You're main responsibilities will include:

Design and run apprenticeship programs to match business goals and follow the rules.

Help to hire apprentices by advertising, screening, interviewing, and onboarding them smoothly.

Be the go-to guide for apprentices, offering coaching, feedback, and resources to help them succeed.

Track apprentices’ progress and give them timely support.

Work with training providers, colleges, and industry partners to make apprenticeships even better.

Check that apprenticeship programs follow all legal and policy requirements.

Keep records updated and share reports on performance using the Digital Apprentice Service System.

Look for ways to improve apprenticeship programs and use fresh ideas to boost training results.

Represent the Council at events and forums, showcasing the importance of apprenticeships.

Act as an ambassador, championing the success of apprenticeships for the Council.The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role you'll need to:

Educated to degree level or have equivalent qualifications or experience in a related HR/People role

Proven experience in apprenticeship program management, learning development or a related role.

Good communication skills and experience working with a number of different stakeholder groups as you'll need to work effectively with training providers, managers and candidates/apprentices

Coaching and mentoring skills to enable you to build relationships with and motivate and support apprentices

Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to address challenges and find workable solutions.

Clear knowledge and understanding of how to create and implement a fair, consistent and effective recruitment process in line with business needs

Be planned and organised in all you do with good IT and digital skills“We’re happy to talk flexible working”
