Its communities are resilient and tightly woven, where kindness, care and a strong sense of place sit at the heart of everyday life.
Stoke has launched its new corporate strategy, 'Our City, Our Wellbeing', focused on reducing inequalities and creating shared wealth across the city.
The council is now looking to expand its public health leadership with the appointment of a Consultant in Public Health - a role critical to helping shape a happier, healthier and more fulfilling future for its residents.

This is a pivotal and rewarding opportunity for an ambitious and values-driven public health leader. You will work as part of a committed team, helping to drive forward real improvements in the wellbeing and outcomes of residents - even in the face of challenging circumstances.

* Deputise for the DPH as required
* Take a practical and 'hands-on' approach to addressing public health challenges.
* Share Stoke's vision for tackling inequalities through a broad wellbeing-based approach

* You need to be able to take a strategic view of the wider determinants of population health, using all aspects of the portfolio to drive the best possible outcomes for the people of Stoke-on-Trent, connecting with colleagues across the council and external partners to support the delivery of its corporate strategy and the Health & Wellbeing strategy
* Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists (with a license to practice) or within 6 months of CCT at the date of interview.
What the Role Offers
