About the role
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide 1:1 support for a young person in Harwich. This is an extremely urgent role.
About the Role
You will be supporting a young person with autism who benefits from a calm, patient, and understanding approach. This role is ideal for someone who can build trust at the individual’s pace and use creative methods to encourage engagement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide consistent 1:1 support
2. Support communication using both verbal and non-verbal methods
3. Encourage engagement in learning and activities
4. Assist with emotional regulation in a calm and reassuring manner
5. Use creative approaches, particularly involving art and animals, to support interaction and expression
About the Individual
6. Diagnosed with ASD and experiences high levels of anxiety
7. Communicates using minimal speech and body language
8. Can be very shy and takes time to build trust
9. Has a strong interest in animals and art, which support feelings of safety and communication
10. No behavioural concerns, but may struggle with engagement and self-regulation
Ideal Candidate
11. Male or female LSA
12. Patient, calm, and empathetic
13. Experience with ASD and/or anxiety (preferred)
14. Able to use creative approaches to support communication and engagement
15. Understanding of non-verbal communication methods
Working Days
16. Tuesday
17. Thursday (preferred)
