Behaviour Support Assistant Location: Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire Salary: £93 - £110per day (Depending on experience) Contract: Full-Time / Part-Time Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner) Empower Young People and Make a Lasting Difference GSL Education Hull is seeking dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to work within a specialist settings in Hull. This rewarding role is ideal for a individual with a passion for supporting young people who may face social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges or display behaviours that impact their learning. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students develop positive relationships, improve emotional regulation, and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom. The Role as a Behaviour Teaching Assistant: Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and behavioural needs. Promote positive behaviour and implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies. Support students to engage with learning and develop confidence and self-esteem. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage personal and academic progress. Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external agencies to support individual student needs. De-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively while maintaining a safe and supportive environment. Encourage attendance, participation, and positive social interactions. The Ideal Behaviour Support Assistant Will: Have previous experience working with children or young people with behavioural, SEMH, or additional needs. Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Be patient, empathetic, and resilient when working in challenging situations. Have a proactive and positive approach to supporting young people. Be able to work effectively as part of a wider team. Hold an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
