Position: Maintenance Engineer - Electrical Bias - Permanent
Shifts: 6am to 6pm / 6pm to 6am - 4 on/off rotating weekly
Salary: £54,000 to £58,000
The ideal candidate will be working for a major company based in Birmingham, supplying the aerospace sector. The role requires a multi-skilled maintenance engineer with an electrical bias and PLC background.
Job Responsibilities:
* Provide high-standard multi-skilled engineering support while working safely, independently or as part of a team.
* Assist in reducing production losses, energy consumption, and waste.
* Diagnose faults, repair equipment to ensure safe operation, correct function, reliability, and equipment availability.
* Engineer solutions to equipment failures through continuous improvement.
* Plan, coordinate, and execute installation and plant improvement projects.
* Support and coordinate planned maintenance schedules, follow up on repairs, source spares, and maintain documentation to audit standards.
* Communicate with suppliers, chase outstanding orders.
* Provide shift coverage, including factory start-up/shutdown as required.
* Specify and procure critical spares; create requisitions for ordering.
* Report equipment issues, follow up on work and spares requirements to the Shift Plant Engineer, and document in shift reports.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
* Support work requests outside immediate role responsibilities.
* Perform any other duties necessary to support engineering operations.
Experience / Qualifications Required:
* Experience with heavy motorized and hydraulic plant.
* Experience with steam generation, boiler operation, and high-pressure fluid systems.
* Mechanical and electrical experience.
* BTec or equivalent qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering.
