About The Role

Are you a passionate English teacher or experienced primary school teacher eager to make a meaningful impact? We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team at Ark Greenwich Free School, dedicated to supporting our most vulnerable students who are not yet secondary ready in terms of their literacy.

In this unique role, you will work with students who are reading three or more years below their chronological age. You will collaborate closely with our English team to provide targeted interventions for our most vulnerable students. We would be interested in a candidate from a primary background who would also be flexible to deliver Maths/numeracy interventions, and SEND-specific interventions such as social skills or life skills.

For the right candidate, a TLR is available to take a leadership role within our SEND team as Deputy SENCo.

At Ark Greenwich, we believe in making bold decisions to support every child in our care. By integrating a primary educator into our secondary environment, we are committed to delivering small-group instruction to rapidly close reading and numeracy gaps. This is more than just a teaching role; it is an opportunity to close the disadvantage gap and transform lives. Join us in our mission to ensure that all our scholars have the chance to succeed and reach their full potential. If you are ready to embrace this challenge, we want to hear from you!

Benefits

* Salaries 2.5% higher than main pay scale.
* Twice as many training days as standard.
* Generous pension scheme.
* Access to Ark rewards – a scheme offering savings from over 3,000 major retailers
* Interest-free loans – up to £5,000 available for season ticket or to buy a bicycle.
* Gym discounts – offering up to 40%.
* Access to Employee Assistance Programme – providing free, confidential counselling, legal advice and a range of different support.

About Us

How Ark Greenwich is different

* We are part of the Ark family of schools and benefit from networking, career opportunities and CPD.
* Staff wellbeing is a priority. We provide breakfast for staff, lunch for early careers staff and have a 6pm/weekend work-related communication cut off. Our systems for communication, marking and feedback are streamlined and based on research and local context. We offer a WFH day to HoDs for curriculum design and external marking of scripts to support workload.
* This is a small school model (about 600 scholars aged 11-16) with a close-knit community to support success.
* Scholar behaviour is exceptional with clearly defined routines. This allows teachers to focus on planning and delivering brilliant lessons.
* We are a no phones onsite school and students wear business dress to prepare for a professional career.
* Our curriculum is traditional and academic; we do not offer shortcuts such as BTECs or vocational equivalents.
* We put high-quality teaching at the heart of what we do. We provide weekly high-quality training and coaching for rapid progress. Live coaching and current best practice in education are central to our approach.
* We emphasise curriculum design, independent learning and formative assessment over grading individual lessons or requiring lesson plans.
* Our scholars participate in a compulsory co-curricular program and six drop-down days per academic year for life-enriching experiences.

Alignment with the school’s vision, values and approach to education is essential.
