About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Altcourse, a Category B men's prison and young offenders institution based in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool in Merseyside. Ideal applicants would be experienced general practitioners who have previously prescribed for and supported patients with substance misuse needs. HMP Altcourse is a fast‑paced environment where you will work closely with a full multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality patient care.
Hours
8am‑9pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 2pm‑6pm Saturday.
Salary
This position is part‑time with a number of sessions; you’ll receive an annual salary between £114,763 and £125,135 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What you'll be doing
* Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, thereby gaining experience in areas you wouldn’t usually see within a practice or even A&E environment.
* Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients' requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
* Serve as a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, and actively participate in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications required
* MBChB or MBBS
* Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
