Waste Operative
Location: Carlisle
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday
Contract: Temporary ongoing
Hourly Rate: £13.64 p/h
We’re recruiting for a maintenance technician to join a well-established business park in Carlisle. This is a hands-on role where you will help maintain high standards across the site, ensuring buildings, grounds, and facilities remain safe, clean, and fully operational. Key responsibilities:
• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs across buildings and grounds
• Conduct regular inspections to identify issues and resolve them promptly
• Handle minor repairs including electrical, plumbing, joinery, and basic HVAC work
• Support infrastructure tasks, including drainage, basic civil work, and general repairs
• Respond to maintenance requests from tenants and on-site management
• Maintain clear records of work completed and report significant issues
• Operate tools and equipment safely and effectively
• Assist with landscaping duties, bin emptying and litter collection
• Work with external contractors when specialist work is required
• Ensure all tasks are completed in line with health and safety regulations
About you:
• Previous maintenance or facilities experience is essential
• Good knowledge of joinery, plumbing, and general building maintenance
• Comfortable working with hand tools and power tools
• Strong problem-solving skills with good attention to detail
• Reliable, hardworking and able to manage your own workload
• Confident communicating with tenants, colleagues and contractors
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Full UK driving license required
