Secondary Teaching Assistant needed in Salford via Step Teachers!
Step Teachers are looking for a dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistant to join an outstanding special needs school in Salford, supporting students aged 11–19 with Autism and Complex Needs. Main Info
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, starting ASAP. The role is long-term with the potential to become permanent. Pay ranges from £95 to £105 per day depending on experience, and we pay through PAYE only – no umbrella companies. From week 13 of your placement, you’ll also receive equal pay to permanent staff. The Role
As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you’ll work with students on both a one-to-one and small group basis, supporting them to access learning and achieve their potential. Many pupils also have social, emotional or behavioural needs, so part of your role will involve offering encouragement, structure and positive reinforcement. You’ll work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, parents and external professionals, helping to create a safe, inclusive and engaging classroom environment. Recording observations, behaviours and safeguarding concerns will also form part of your responsibilities.
The School
You’ll be joining a supportive SEN school with small class sizes of no more than ten pupils and four staff, so teamwork and collaboration are key. The school has a strong ethos of empathy, respect and inclusion, ensuring that every student is valued and supported. Located in Salford, it’s easily accessible by train and bus, with free on-site parking available.
