The Role As a Year 6 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons that challenge pupils and ensure strong progress across all subjects. You will use assessment effectively to inform planning, identify gaps in learning, and provide tailored support to meet the needs of all pupils. Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development is a key part of the role. You will work closely with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leaders to ensure continuity and high-quality teaching across the phase. Key Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 6 curriculum Monitor pupil progress and use assessment to inform planning and differentiation Support pupils with varying learning needs, including SEND and EAL Maintain a safe, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and independence Collaborate with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues Communicate effectively with parents and carers Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and school-wide initiatives Support pupils’ transition to secondary education The Ideal Candidate The successful applicant will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6 Be confident in assessment, differentiation, and curriculum delivery Possess strong classroom management and organisational skills Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable Demonstrate commitment to inclusive practice and safeguarding Have a positive, professional approach to teamwork Early Career Teachers with Upper KS2 experience are encouraged to apply and will be supported with mentoring.
