We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil with ADHD and high-needs Autism. This is an ongoing, long-term, temporary role starting as soon as possible. Duties as a Year 1 SEND Teaching Assistant: Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and engage in classroom activities. Implement strategies to manage behaviour positively and effectively. Support the child’s social, emotional, and personal development within the school environment. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to follow individual learning and behaviour plans. Assist with classroom routines and promote a safe and supportive learning environment. Encourage independence, confidence, and positive relationships with peers. Ideal Year 1 SEND Teaching Assistant: Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly Autism and ADHD, is highly desirable. Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations. A patient, calm, and nurturing approach. Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with teaching staff and external professionals. A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to reach their full potential as a Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant.
