Overview
Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council is a small Council with big values. We are currently recruiting for a Homelessness Prevention Officer to be part of our dynamic service with a vision of preventing homelessness. You will be an integral member of the team at a time when some of the biggest changes to the rented sector are on the horizon and you will be a key point of contact for service users, officers and stakeholders, to help deliver the Council’s statutory obligations under the Housing Act 1996, Part VII and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Responsibilities
* The prevention of homelessness, and the delivery of our homelessness initiatives
* Providing housing advice services to all sectors of the housing market
* Building and maintaining operational links with private sector landlords and lettings agents
The post holder will work closely with other external organisations and internal teams to provide a holistic approach with regards to money management and digital skills and will sign-post as appropriate.
Qualifications and experience
* Qualification at Grade A-C in English and Maths or equivalent, and willing to work towards or hold appropriate housing qualification or equivalent at Level 2
* Experience of dealing directly with members of the public and understanding customer care issues
* Experience of working in a public sector service or housing-related environment
* Excellent organisational skills in terms of service planning, prioritising work, time management, effective use of resources and performance evaluation
* Experience of contributing to partnership or multi-agency working
* Knowledge of legislation relating to the recovery of monies owed to the Council
* All-round interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels in difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
