The job itself

We are excited to be able to offer the opportunity to join the Libraries and East Riding Council's Customer Services working as a Customer Advisor based at the Haltemprice Library and Customer Services Centre in Anlaby.

What you will be doing:

You will engage with customers and local partners to develop and promote the service, including supporting increased use of our self-service information facilities, and promotion of our Health Agenda. You will also support activities within the centre such as childrens activities like Bounce and Rhyme and Adult groups.

About you:

We are looking for a friendly and confident individual with excellent customer care and organisational skills.

You're someone who enjoys working with customers of all ages and you can deal with difficult situations effectively, keeping calm under pressure.

You will have excellent communication skills and have an enthusiastic approach to delivering good customer service. This is a challenging and demanding role, and full training will be given.

This job would suit someone with experience of working with the public and answering telephone enquiries.

The role can be physically demanding and involves moving around the workplace, assisting customers, moving library stock to and from shelves, restocking display areas, loading/unloading of small crates of library materials/book stock and caddy liner boxes.

Applicants will be required to provide evidence of qualifications if short-listed for interview.

Interviewees will be required to complete a digital skills test as part of the interview process.

The successful applicant will require a Basic DBS check

Days of work:

Post 1: Hours per week: 30.5 hours

Week One: Monday 9:30 - 6:45, Tuesday: 12:45 - 5:45, Thursday 9:30 - 5:45, Friday 9:00 - 4:45 (28.75hrs)

Week Two: Tuesday 10:30 - 5:30, Wednesday: 10:00 - 5:15, Thursday: 9:00 5:45, Friday 9:00 - 4:45, Saturday 9:15 - 2:45 (32:25hrs)

Post 2: Hours per week: 28 hours

Week One: Tuesday 9:30 - 5:45, Wednesday: 9:30 - 4:15, Friday 10:15 - 4:15, Saturday 9:15 - 12:30 -(22.75hrs)

Week Two: Monday 10:30 - 6:45, Tuesday: 9:00 - 5:00, Wednesday 9:00-5:30, Thursday 9:30 - 1:30, Friday 10:00 - 4:30 (33:25hrs)
