Arts Council England is seeking a contract Governance Officer to join a small team, delivering efficient and effective services to our committees.
Job Description
As a Governance Officer, you will facilitate successful away-day events, redraft policies, and handle internal queries related to policies and processes. You will also attend formal meetings where high-level organizational plans and policies are discussed and approved.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
* Planning meetings with key internal staff, managing reports, drafting agendas, and organizing aspects of our forward plan
* Drafting, updating, and advising on key Governance Policy documents
* Providing advice to council members and officers on governance procedures and protocols, especially concerning the Arts Council's Royal Charter, Scheme of Delegated Financial Authority, and Code of Ethics/Code of Conduct
* Handling staff inquiries related to governance matters
* Planning and coordinating away days and site visits for Trustees
We seek someone experienced and enthusiastic about committee work, including writing formal minutes and advising on procedures. Additionally, candidates should have:
* Project planning and implementation experience
* Experience working with senior personnel and excellent communication skills
* The ability to work in a busy environment with keen attention to detail
* Knowledge of governance best practices
