Job Title: Typhoon Cockpit Senior Human Factors Engineer

Salary: Up to £52,426
What you’ll be doing:
1. Undertaking analysis of customer requirements, to determine the basis for new and evolved features within the cockpit
2. Establishing designs and schemes for the HMI within the Typhoon Cockpit against agreed requirements, covering control and symbology aspects
3. Defining Pilot interfaces with the systems in conjunction with Aircrew and Test Pilots from Typhoon operating Air Forces and engineering teams
4. Working with Cockpit and System Integration rig test teams, specify and support the development of test scenarios to demonstrate the proposed HMI design
5. Supporting HMI usability assessments with Aircrew
6. Through customer review, undertaking Aircrew assessment of proposed design schemes, refining as necessary, to establish the detailed schemes to be taken forward for full Cockpit and Avionic Systems design
Your skills and experiences:
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with an ability to engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
* Pro-active and able to think creatively, having the courage to challenge and drive improvement
* Analytical, a natural problem-solver, able to use your own initiative and act independently as required
* Degree or equivalent in Human Factors or related subject (e.g., psychology or user-centred design)
* Significant experience in a Human Factors related role

The Cockpit Human Factors team:
As a Senior Cockpit Human Factors Engineer, you will assist in developing HMI designs and schemes for the Typhoon Cockpit. This includes designing and evolving modes and capabilities for the Typhoon Weapon System, such as sensor capabilities, navigation and communications, weapons targeting and release functions, and defensive aids operations.
You will have opportunities to work with test pilots, contribute to designs, and travel to observe flight tests.
