Building a sustainable tomorrow\n\nBAM Construction is recruiting a Senior/Project Surveyor to join the team. Ideally based out of our Leeds offices, however we will consider candidates who can be based out of Newcastle or Manchester. This will include projects in the north of England.
Travel will be required for this position.\n\nYour mission\n\nReporting directly to the Managing Surveyor, you will have direct responsibility for the successful commercial management of the MEPH aspects of the project, working pro-actively and collaboratively as an integral member of both the site and wider Client team.\n\nDuties will include, (but not be restricted to):\n\nTimely procurement and commercial management of subcontract / supply chain, including:\n• Ensuring subcontractor / supply chain compliance / competency with both Business and specific project requirements prior to issue of any tender enquiry\n• Agreement of specific Work Package scope of works and the preparation of all relevant documentation for formal subcontract / supply chain enquiries / procurement.\n• Procurement negotiations, including agreement of S/C / supply chain terms and conditions\n• Analysis / reconciliation of returned tenders and the preparation of the final subcontract recommendation\n• Producing and issuing out robust and relevant subcontract / supply chain order documentation in a timely manner\n• Commercial responsibility throughout the project on all matters relating to MEPH subcontract work packages, all relevant supply chain matters and material orders.\n\nProject delivery :\n• Working closely and collaboratively with the Project manager, and the rest of the team, to ensure the successful delivery and financial outcome of the project.\n• Involvement in the development of design and procurement strategies to maximise opportunities and minimise / mitigate risks.\n• Involvement in identifying key project risks and opportunities, together with risk mitigation strategy’s.\n• Production of Monthly and Quarterly Cost Reports including project margin projections and cashflow forecasts.\n• Ensuring compliance with Business requirements and Best Practice procedures.\n• Production of monthly valuations and agreement with client representatives.\n• Measurement, valuation and negotiation of Client Variations.\n• Preparation and negotiation of Project Final Accounts.\n• Fostering, and maintaining, professional relationships at all times with Client’s, Consultants and our Supply Chain Partners.\n\nWho are we looking for?\n\n• Preferably be qualified at HND / degree level, or working towards MRICS or equivalent professional level.\n• Have the depth of experience and competencies required of the role.\n• Be a positive and proactive individual that works collaboratively with colleagues, our supply chain partners and the wider client team.\n• Share the same general values and ethos as the Business, and promote these, at all times, both internally and externally.\n• Be a confident and astute negotiator.\n• Possess a clear and proven understanding of the importance of positive working relationships with all parties.\n• Confidence and ability to work within a team environment, and to have a positive influence on outcomes.\n• Good communication skills and conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.\n• Be confident and experienced in the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and computer aided measurement tools.\n\nWhat’s in it for you?\n\nIn addition to an attractive salary we offer a significant benefits package including, contributory pension, Company Car, BUPA, life assurance, 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), gym subsidy, BAM social club membership and many more exciting benefits.\n\nYour work environment\n\nPeople are at the heart of what we do at BAM.
