Based within Arup’s Finance team, our Payroll Service Centre is responsible for the end to end processing of the monthly payroll for ARUP staff within the UK, UAE, India, Kenya and South Africa. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Payroll Advisor to support with these activities, reporting directly to the Payroll Deputy Team Leader.
Our Senior Payroll Advisor must have excellent in depth knowledge of the end to end payroll function, as they will be required to organise and deliver training. Having an open and analytical mind is hugely important, as we require our senior advisors to be responsible for supporting with the more complex aspects of our payroll processing.
This is a broad and varied role with lots of opportunity to become involved in a wide range of activities. The role holder will have exposure to some aspects of international payroll processing and have the opportunity to participate in some dedicated project groups focussing on various topics, not just day-to-day payroll activity.

⦁ Checking payroll changes
⦁ Tax uploads
⦁ Reconciling and understanding the treatment of Flexible Benefits
⦁ Sickness Absence
⦁ Family Leave
⦁ International Shadow Payroll processing
⦁ Adhoc and monthly reporting on Payroll data
⦁ Journal processing
⦁ Payroll account balancing and reconciliations
⦁ Third party payments
⦁ Maintaining excellent member experience by responding to and resolving pay queries
⦁ Supporting with system testing, including the deployment of SOY patches
To achieve in this role, you are likely to…
⦁ Demonstrate detailed and indepth payroll processing experience
⦁ Have a solid working knowledge and experience of Microsoft Excel
⦁ Be able to work with an exceptionally high degree of accuracy and to tight timescales
⦁ Provide examples of holding training sessions and supporting team member development through adapting training styles to suit different audiences
⦁ Have experience of working in a Shared Service Centre environment
⦁ Demonstrate thorough understanding of UK payroll legislation and processes
⦁ Be able to create and review procedure documentation
⦁ Possess process improvement experience
⦁ Demonstrate excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills
