Salary: £60-85,000 (Dependent on Experience)
Overview
Our client, a leading organisation in the construction and infrastructure sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join their expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity to support high-profile projects across the UK, applying project management and project controls expertise to drive efficiency and delivery. The role requires a multi-disciplinary approach, making a wide range of experience or a willingness to learn essential.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering accurate project scheduling, monitoring progress, and ensuring robust planning practices. They will also support the alignment of cost, risk, and procurement functions while maintaining stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop realistic and practical schedule estimates for construction works.
• Define the Basis of Estimate for the construction schedule, including key assumptions and exclusions.
• Collaborate closely with cost and risk management teams to ensure alignment of estimates and project assumptions.
• Work alongside the risk team to support Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) processes.
• Identify and manage key internal and external project interfaces, including procurement and dependent projects.
• Ensure strong stakeholder engagement, securing buy-in to project schedules.
• Validate schedule estimates using benchmark data and design information (BIM) where applicable.
Key Requirements:
Essential:
• Minimum of 5 years' planning experience in construction and infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Power BI).
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, with civil engineering experience preferred (e.g., Civils, M&E).
• Experience working on large-scale infrastructure and construction projects.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to analyse and present information clearly and persuasively.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of BIM, parametric estimating, and 4D planning.
• Degree qualification in a relevant field or formal project management certifications (APM, PRINCE2).
• Understanding of procurement processes and various contract types (Alliances, NEC, JCT, FIDIC).
• Membership in a relevant professional body (APM, ICE, CIOB).
Additional Requirements:
• Full right to work in the UK.
• Hybrid working: 3 days home-based, 2 days office-based (London or Suffolk).
• Expenses covered for travel to Suffolk when required.
