Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Lincoln, UK
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 + benefits
Overview
An established and expanding geotechnical consultancy is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join its Lincoln office. This is a key role within the business, offering the opportunity to lead projects, provide technical oversight, and mentor junior staff across a wide range of ground engineering schemes.
You will play a pivotal role in delivering both ground investigation and geotechnical design, working across sectors including residential, commercial, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Leading and managing geotechnical projects from inception through to completion
Designing and specifying ground investigations, including boreholes, trial pits, and in-situ testing
Developing robust ground models and providing geotechnical interpretations
Undertaking and reviewing geotechnical design, including:
Shallow and deep foundations
Retaining walls and earthworks
Slope stability and ground improvement solutions
Producing and reviewing factual and interpretative reports
Providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers and geologists
Managing client relationships and contributing to business development
Ensuring compliance with BS 5930, Eurocode 7, and relevant UK standards
Overseeing health & safety on projects, including RAMS and site supervision
Requirements
Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or similar
5+ years' experience within geotechnical engineering
Strong background in both ground investigation and geotechnical design
Proven experience in project management and client interaction
Proficient in geotechnical design software (e.g. GeoStudio, PLAXIS, WALLAP, or similar)
Strong report writing and technical review skills
Full UK driving licence
Desirable
Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE or Geological Society)
Experience managing multidisciplinary projects
Knowledge of contaminated land and remediation
