Education and skills:
* Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
* Experience of working in manufacturing and/or engineering sector
* Advanced Excel skills
* Good working knowledge of Sage
* Management experience

As a Financial Controller, you will:
* Contribute to the development of business strategy
* Monitor financial performance, key KPIs (financial) and internal controls of the business
* Identify waste and cost-reduction opportunities across all areas of business; initiate and implement operational efficiencies
* Carry out profitability analysis for individual jobs and assist with product pricing
* Produce monthly management accounts, weekly cashflow reports and ad hoc financial analysis for the director
* Process monthly and weekly payroll
* Manage month-end and year-end close process, preparing the year end file for the accountants
* Perform stock and work-in-progress valuations
* Calculate recharges
* Be responsible for all aspects of purchase and sales ledgers, including credit control
* Manage supplier payment runs
* Optimise working capital
* Prepare and submit VAT returns
* Maintain the fixed assets register
* Reconcile bank and control accounts
* Liaise with External Auditors in relation to year end and internal control
* Contribute to the risk register and support risk management meetings to ensure risk is managed effectively
* Assist the director with preparation of the R&D claim
* Train, supervise and appraise the Financial Control Assistant
* Design and implement a robust budgeting system
* Continually improve the role, systems and processes
