Job Title: Senior Design Manager Division: UK Fit Out Division Location: Manchester LI-CG1 Role purpose We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Design Manager within our UK Fit Out Division. This will be part of a team working with some exciting clients to create outstanding commercial office space across Northern England, involving high end Cat B fit outs and full refurbishments. You will deliver a quality service and product to our clients in line with the project goals by working with the professional team and applying ISG systems, procedures and culture. To support the construction team in the resolution of design related issues in a timely manner to prevent an effect on the construction programme and with awareness of the commercial implications the resolution may produce. To assist with the management of the divisions design management function to ensure consistency in the service provided across the division. Key accountabilities Take full responsibility for the design coordination of large projects. Audit the design and identify inconsistencies, discrepancies and missing information and record, report and track the close out of these items in an Information Required Schedule format. Take responsibility for the production and control of the design programme and report against it. Identify and manage risk from drawings, specifications, design release dates, programme and procurement. Chair design workshops with the trade contractors, develop the design, workshop drawings and manage the coordination between trades. Review design development regularly with the Financial Manager to ensure design and commercial aspects are aligned. Keep a separate Open Items Schedule to track design changes from workshops or comments and use CVI forms in workshops if necessary. Manage the production and approval of samples, mock ups and quality benchmarks. Produce and manage Open Items Schedules for each trade contractor package. Chair Design Team Meetings with the consultant designers and record and track information from DTM's. Coordinate the integration of the building services with the architectural and structural elements of the project. Identify potential quality issues and latent defects and to manage the design development of these with the design team to provide a suitable resolution. Be a point of contact between the design team and the trade contractors. Attend Morning Review meetings and action design information. Produce precise and succinct design sections for project reports. Offer buildability advice and value engineering solutions. Identify problems and offer solutions. Suggest trade contractors, systems and manufacturers for team appraisal. Contribute information to the proposals team. Provide input into Contractors Proposals document for D&B projects. Compile attend and present at the "pitch". Be aware of the existence of marketing relationships with external professionals and clients Skills & experience Background in Architectural design or Construction management Industry experience. Track record of successful projects either internally or externally In-depth knowledge of the design and construction process, both refurbishment and fit out Understands the pre-construction process. Can organise and manage the design phase of a project Has been involved in at least one large (£10m) project Knowledge of electronic document management such as Conject (BIW) CAD Bid Management Working on multiple projects Architectural/ Structural / Project Management Good Presentation skills Be able to effectively manage risk Be able to effectively plan the design programme Methodical approach to duties Sensitive to political situations - good relationship builder Good communicator Team player Prepared to be innovative A good organiser / system implementer Qualifications Prior construction management experience or Architectural or M&E qualification What's in it for you?
