About the Role:
We're looking for an industry professional with hands on experience in film distribution, promotion, and navigating the film festival circuit to deliver an engaging 3 hour in person workshop for young filmmakers aged 16-19 as part of the BFI Film Academy.
This session should give participants a practical understanding of how to get their films seen, from submitting to festivals, to self distribution and promotion via digital platforms and social media. The aim is to demystify the post production side of filmmaking and empower emerging creatives to take control of their film's journey after it's made.
What You'll Do:
* Deliver a 3 hour in person workshop to 21 students aged 16-19
* Break down key topics such as: How to research, select and submit to festivals, the basics of marketing and promoting a short film, information and advice for submitting to distributors.
* Use real world examples from your own experience where possible
* Encourage questions, discussion, and interaction throughout
About You:
* Professional experience in film distribution, festival strategy, marketing, or producing
* Strong understanding of how independent films (especially shorts) are promoted and distributed
* Confident workshop facilitator with experience engaging young people or emerging creatives
* Passionate about helping young filmmakers understand the full lifecycle of a film
Bonus If You Have:
* Experience programming for a festival, working with distributors, or marketing your own films
* Knowledge of lesser known festivals and distribution routes
* A toolkit or resources (e.g. templates, checklists) to share with participants
* Live in / grew up in any of the following boroughs: Brent, Croydon, Enfield, Newham or Barking and Dagenham
