Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologist to join our acute inpatient service psychology team. This is a specialist role within a high acuity inpatient service covering an acute ward, and an adult Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The post will offer the opportunity to develop and deliver formulation-led, trauma informed psychological care in close collaboration with 2 skilled multi-disciplinary teams. The successful applicant will contribute to formulation including risk, care planning, staff support and service development. Psychology staff are integrated into multidisciplinary teams on the wards, where their input is highly valued. The acute/urgent care pathway has a consultant clinical psychologist, psychology and assistant psychology staff who work together as a group of professionals on shared aims and objectives to support colleagues in the delivery of psychological care across the acute pathway.
The post will work closely with an allocated assistant psychologist, will receive regular clinical supervision from a senior psychologist, and line management from the consultant psychologist in the acute pathway.
This role is well suited to a psychologist with a strong interest in complex mental health presentations, systems working, and reducing restrictive practice.
Main duties of the job
The psychological professions in the Trust are supported by a professional lead structure working to embed the psychological professions strategy. There is access to funding for continuing professional development and training courses. There are also many opportunities to engage in individual and group clinical supervision, training, audit, service evaluation, and research.

The type of communication will include highly sensitive, confidential, complex and technical information.
The post will be line and professionally managed by the Consultant Psychologist within the acute pathway. Clinical supervision will be arranged after appointment.
