Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated Substance Use Specialist to deliver a comprehensive service for people experiencing homelessness or at risk of relapse. The role involves assessment, care coordination, individual and group interventions, harm reduction and close collaboration with the housing options team.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake specialist assessment and care coordination for individuals with housing problems and substance use issues.
* Deliver evidence‑based substance use interventions in group and individual formats, managing a caseload of service users.
* Provide consultation, support and advice on substance use, including harm‑reduction strategies.
* Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records and documentation in line with current policy and legislation.
* Offer naloxone to clients at risk and facilitate access to blood‑borne infection testing.
* Collect and provide service statistics aligned with local health and social care commissioning requirements.
Qualifications
* Foundation Degree, HNC or equivalent in counselling, social work, nursing, psychology, human resources, social studies, or a related field.
Experience
* Considerable experience working with drug users.
* Experience with CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and solution‑focused therapy techniques.
Skills & Abilities
* Comprehensive knowledge of substances and their effects.
* Strong collaborative working skills with multidisciplinary teams.
