Meticulous attention to details is essential in this role, to ensure that train plans are developed in accordance with GBRf Standards, planning guidelines and codes of practice. You will be responsible for identifying Network Rail engineering works that will influence the weekly train plan and communicating the impact of this to relevant stakeholders so excellent communication skills are also essential.
This role will be based in our Doncaster office .
Responsibilities
* To identify Network Rail engineering works that will influence GB Railfreight’s weekly train plan and communicate the impact that this is likely to have.
* To engage and negotiate with Network Rail within the Informed Traveller process; to identify those schedules that are impacted by Network Rail engineering works on a week by week basis and to submit alternative scheduling proposal to Network Rail.
* To manage the Informed Traveller offer from Network Rail; to ensure that the schedules offered by Network Rail match the submission made by GBRf. Where the offer varies, to ensure that the alternative offered by Network Rail is viable.
* To regularly engage with the Short Term Timetable and Traincrew Planning teams to ensure continuity and efficiency with the delivery of weekly train plans.
* Where required, to assist, and provide cover for, the Engineering Access Manager.
Qualifications
* Ability to timetable trains over the national network taking into consideration other services, network capability and Timetable Planning Rules.
* Good working knowledge of national railway geography.
* Knowledge of train planning systems including TRUST/TOPS/VoyagerPlan, TPS.
* A general understanding of railway rules and operating methods.
* Ability to prioritise in order to meet deadlines.
* Ability to communicate effectively, and in an appropriate manner, with both internal and external customers and suppliers.
* Ability to work effectively with others in a team.
* Awareness of safety considerations in the workplace
* Detailed knowledge of the UK rail freight business.
* Good knowledge of the UK rail industry as a whole.
* Knowledge or previous experience of Network Rail’s ITPS software.
* Knowledge of existing GBRf traincrew depot locations, depot links, route knowledge and traction knowledge.
* Detailed knowledge of the workings of GBRf and the weekly train plans
