Deal Origination Executive (Corporate Finance / M&A) Salary: Up to £40,000 + performance-related bonus Reports to: Head of Mergers & Acquisitions Location: BirminghamPurpose of the RoleTo support the company's corporate development strategy by researching, sourcing, and qualifying new deal opportunities in the software and technology sector. The role focuses on origination activity, market intelligence, and relationship-building, extensive research, feeding into into the M&A team for execution.Key ResponsibilitiesOrigination SupportIdentify potential acquisition targets, partnerships, and investment opportunitiesBuild and maintain a pipeline of opportunities aligned with the company's growth strategy.Track competitor activity, emerging technologies, and deal flow in the sector.Business DevelopmentAssist in outreach to founders, investors, and advisory networks in the specific industry.Support senior colleagues in preparing pitch materials, presentations, and target analyses.Represent the company at relevant industry events, conferences, and networking forumsClient & Partner EngagementConduct initial conversations with prospects to qualify opportunities.Coordinate meetings between potential targets and the Head of M&A.Maintain CRM records and ensure accurate tracking of origination activity.Market IntelligenceProduce sector reports, target lists, and briefing notes focused on software and SaaS markets.Monitor regulatory, technological, and macroeconomic trends impacting M&A activity.CollaborationWork closely with the Head of M&A and Origination to prioritise origination efforts.Liaise with execution teams to ensure smooth handover of qualified opportunities.Candidate ProfileEssential Skills & Experience1-3 years' experience in corporate finance, investment banking, venture capital, or financial services, ideally with exposure to technology/software.Strong research and analytical skills with ability to identify and assess opportunities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with founders, investors, and senior stakeholders.Commercial awareness and understanding of M&A processes and capital markets.Highly organised with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.Desirable AttributesExisting network within technology investors, founders, or advisory firms.Entrepreneurial mindset with proactive approach to sourcing opportunities.Ambition to progress into senior origination or execution roles.QualificationsDegree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related discipline.Compensation & BenefitsBase salary up to £40,000.Performance-related bonus linked to origination success/perfomance Benefits package including pension, healthcare, and professional development support.At Gleeson Recruitment Group, we embrace inclusivity and welcome applicants of all backgrounds, experiences, and abilities.
