Job Title: Senior / Engineer Level Rail Engineer – Drainage & Lineside Projects Location: Glasgow (Hybrid, 2–3 days per week in office site visits as required) Engagement Type: Contract (Inside IR35) Rate: Up to £40 per hour Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week Duration: 12 months initially (potential for extension) Start Date: ASAP Headcount: 3 roles available About the Role We’re seeking experienced Rail Engineers at Engineer or Senior Engineer level to join a high-priority secondment supporting key infrastructure projects across drainage, geotechnical, and lineside civil engineering. As a Rail Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering nationally significant programmes, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to improve resilience and performance across the rail network. Key Responsibilities * Support Drainage RAM workbank management and CP8 planning for high water-threat catchments. * Deliver drainage and lineside projects where asset condition scores are missing or assets are unrecorded. * Conduct desk studies, risk assessments, and optioneering for high-risk flooding areas. * Manage coordination, assurance, and delivery of boundary wall programmes. * Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. Essential Requirements * Proven experience as a Rail Engineer in rail drainage, geotechnical, or lineside civil engineering. * Strong background in project delivery, stakeholder coordination, and risk management. * PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification or willingness to obtain promptly. Desirable Skills * Experience using InfoDrainage or similar modelling tools. * Familiarity with geo-RINM mapping/correction and condition data workflows. * Background in drainage optioneering and technical reporting.
