At Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, we are committed to improving our interventions and developing new clinical skills. We are seeking an experienced mental health Occupational Therapist (OT) to join Solar, our Young Person's service in Solihull. Solar is part of our Integrated Community Care and Recovery Service (ICCR), providing recovery-focused care within rehabilitation units and community-based teams.
The successful candidate will be dedicated to multi-disciplinary and partnership working, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to engage collaboratively with individuals and families. Flexibility, energy, a positive attitude, and the ability to work autonomously are essential. You should enjoy partnership working and be capable of establishing good networks with our Recovery College and other agencies.
Main duties include:
1. Having significant post-qualification experience working with young people or adults with mental health conditions, demonstrating clinical expertise in occupational needs assessment and functioning.
2. Managing a caseload of children and young people with complex needs, using evidence-based, client-centered principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions across various settings.
3. Participating in the planning, development, and evaluation of OT services within Solar, and leading or contributing to projects within the scope of Occupational Therapy.
4. Supervising OT students on placement and supporting junior staff through supervision and appraisal.
5. Contributing to the development of the Trust's OT and AHP services, attending Trust meetings, CPD forums, and engaging in professional development through training.
6. Having an interest in recovery-oriented approaches, co-production, and collaborative work, providing OT assessments and interventions informed by assessments, outcome measures, and feedback from service users and families.
