About the Role

As a Rent Account Manager within Nottingham City Council\'s Rent Team, you will play a key role in delivering a fair, supportive and customer-focused housing income service. You\'ll work proactively with tenants to maximise rental income, offering clear advice on rent responsibilities, arrears management and welfare benefits. Building strong, trust-based relationships, you will support tenants to sustain their tenancies, including those who may be vulnerable or require additional assistance, and you\'ll work closely with specialist agencies when needed.

In this role, you will manage both current and former rent accounts, agree realistic repayment plans, maintain accurate case records and take appropriate action in line with policy, which may include serving notices or supporting legal processes. You will collaborate with colleagues across Housing Benefits, Social Services and partner organisations to develop effective solutions to arrears issues.

You'll also contribute to service improvement by analysing performance data, preparing reports, sharing good practice and helping shape the ongoing development of the Rent Service. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to tenants' lives while helping ensure high-quality, sustainable income management across Nottingham City Council Housing Services.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

* Act as an expert resource for all rent-related matters for the Nottingham City Council Housing Services (NCCHS).
* Ensure tenancies are sustained by providing support and advice to vulnerable tenants or those identified with a support need and referral to specialist agencies where appropriate.
* Review all accounts, taking action in accordance with current policy and procedures, including debt advice and repayment agreements.
* Ensure that legal, statutory, and any other relevant provision governing or affecting the service area are strictly observed.
* To work in partnership with internal and external partners such as Housing Benefits, DWP, Social Servies, and other statutory and voluntary agencies in order to implement solutions to arrears problems.
* Demonstrate and promote excellent standards of customer care in the context of NCCHS\' Mission, Vision and Values, to uphold the NCC\'s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy and objectives and to participate in training activities necessary to your post.
