Job Summary
We are recruiting a full-time Apprentice Clerical Officer to join our PREP (Peri-operative Risk Evaluation & Preparation) admin team. The role involves rotating shifts between Sunderland Royal Hospital and South Tyneside Hospital.
You will support a small team of administrative staff, providing essential functions while liaising with clinical, nursing, administrative staff, patients, and the public. The service supports all surgical directorates throughout the Trust, and you will undertake various administrative tasks to support referring clinical and administrative teams.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Maths and English Language GCSE minimum grade C/4 or equivalent.
* Willing to complete Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Standard during the apprenticeship.

Main Duties
* Provide clerical and administrative support to the PREP/Pre-Assessment Department and service users across the Trust.
* Greet patients, register details, handle phone inquiries, and signpost or forward calls as needed.
* Maintain effective communication within the department and with surgical directorates.
* Maintain accurate electronic records; experience with Meditech Version 6 is desirable.
* Communicate effectively with people at all levels, demonstrating excellent organisational and time-management skills. Ability to prioritise workload is essential.
* Work across sites as needed to support the service.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00.
