Role Overview
The Cardiac Investigation Unit (CIU) at Salisbury District Hospital supports transthoracic echocardiography, stress echocardiography, contrast studies, trans‑oesophageal echocardiography and related services. The CIU also coordinates with non‑invasive, PCI and cardiac rhythm management (CRM) teams across the Trust.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical support to CIU services, including echo and related investigations, in line with agreed service needs.
* Deliver transthoracic echocardiography, including physiologist‑led stress and bubble studies, and assist with pharmacological stress, contrast echo and TOE as required.
* Participate in coronary angiography and intervention, providing Primary PCI during normal hours and supporting non‑invasive testing such as exercise, tilt and ECG monitoring.
* Support service management activities: quality assurance, service planning, workforce planning, appraisal and daily supervision in partnership with the Lead Echocardiographer and Head of CIU.
* Maintain and enhance local echo modality portfolio, ensuring compliance with BSE standards and ergonomic requirements.
* Engage in continuing professional development, national and regional academic engagement, and contribute to departmental BSE accreditation efforts.
Qualifications and Requirements
