Senior Cardiac Physiologist (Echocardiography)
An opportunity has arisen to join the echo team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. This position requires someone with experience in echocardiography and an interest in transferring their skills to the paediatric setting. Previous experience in paediatrics is not necessary but an enthusiasm to develop existing echocardiography knowledge will stand the post holder in good stead for progressing in this field. We are looking for a person who, with support, will perform echocardiography in children with a large spectrum of congenital, inherited and acquired heart conditions.
Main duties of the job
* To complete in-house training with support and teaching from senior clinical scientist/physiologists.
* To carry out complex transthoracic paediatric echocardiograms guided by departmental protocols.
* To produce and authorise an accurate, factual and clinical report for each study, in order to guide the clinician on the management of the patient, therefore recognising when a patient needs to be seen urgently by a Cardiologist
* To regularly prepare and present interesting cases at departmental meetings
* To take responsibility for monitoring own performance and professional development to ensure the delivery of a high quality, efficient, and effective service
* To demonstrate a positive attitude to the team and contribute to change and developments within the department
* To be responsible for the accurate inputting, archiving and updating of all clinical data from the Clinical Physiology Department into the Information Database (EPIC

Academic/Professional qualification

* BSc Clinical Physiology – Cardiology OR relevant science subject OR equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
* Postgraduate (MSc) certificate in a relevant cardiac speciality (working towards) OR Postgraduate qualification in specialist area within Echocardiography
Experience/Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Specialist knowledge of adult cardiology
* Previous experience working at a Band 6 level within a Cardiac department
* Independent echocardiography skills including report writing
Desirable criteria
* Knowledge of Congenital Heart Disease in echocardiography, cardiac morphology and the corrective procedures performed in the paediatric population
Skills/Abilities

* Excellent organisational skills, able to use initiative and to prioritise own workload and work flexibly as part of a team
