Bright Heart Education's tuition agency (an employment business) seeks GCSE and A Level Geography tutors in London or Surrey with good SEN experience and good availability. We strongly prefer tutors with good availability for in-person tutoring (and can offer many hours of tutoring, including during the daytime).
We provide in-person tuition in London and parts of surrounding counties and online tuition throughout the UK. We work closely with private families, local authorities and schools, as an accredited National Tutoring Programme (NTP) Tuition Partner. We offer a nurturing approach and focus on supporting children and young people with learning challenges or SEMH needs. We also help students lacking confidence or motivation or who have fallen behind at school and those needing interim education outside of school.
* Tutors are carefully screened, personally interviewed by a director, and background checked (including Enhanced DBS with children’s barred list check).
* Tutors receive training and guidance on tutoring and safeguarding practices and adhere to our tutoring standards, Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, and Online Tutoring Policy.
* Tutors embody Bright Heart’s student-centered approach, taking the time to listen and connect to students, enhancing trust, self-esteem, and self-belief before building on academic abilities.
Our experienced team is passionate about helping children and young people achieve their potential. We take the time to understand students\' unique learning needs and provide well-matched tutors. Students receive individual learning plans (ILPs) that cater to their academic requirements and SEMH needs. ILPs guide tutors to deliver tailored tuition that keeps learning on track.
We cover from Reception to A-level and offer adult support. We provide supplementary tuition and interim education, covering the entire curriculum, and help with lifelong skills including study techniques and transition into adulthood.
Bright Heart is an award-winning London-based tuition agency. We won the Tuition Business of the Year at the 2022 National Tutoring Awards (runners-up in 2023 and 2024). We were an accredited Tuition Partner for the National Tutoring Programme (NTP) which ended in August 2024. We offer a nurturing approach and support students with SEN and those lacking confidence or motivation through the Bright Heart Approach.
Responsibilities and Practice
Responsibilities include delivering tailored tutoring in geography (and related subjects) to meet individual student needs, adhering to safeguarding and child protection policies, following ILPs, and maintaining professional standards. Tutors may work with students one-to-one or in small groups (up to 1:6) at homes or schools, with supervision and guidelines provided by Bright Heart.
Qualifications and Requirements
* At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK
* Excellent spoken and written English
* Strong subject knowledge in the tutoring subject(s)
* University qualification or studying towards one and A-levels
* Passion for teaching and their tutoring subject(s)
* SEN tutoring/teaching experience and a passion for working with students with SEN
* Right to work in the UK and a current Enhanced DBS certificate (with a check of the children\'s barred list) before commencing tutoring assignments
* 2 relevant professional references and a parent reference
* Candidates who have lived or worked overseas in the last 5 years will need to provide certain overseas checks, including a police certificate
