Overview
Phoenix Learning & Care Group are looking for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join the team and help create a caring, stable home environment for the children we support. The role involves working with young people who may have experienced trauma and may display challenging behaviours. You will provide consistent, patient, and compassionate support to help children feel safe, valued, and supported to reach their goals.
A day in the life of a Senior Support Worker will involve:
* Assisting the manager with recruitment, supervision, meetings, and inspections.
* Supporting children to have the best quality of life possible through activities at home, outings, holidays, healthy meals, and everyday routines. This may include taking children to community activities and events.
* Ensuring children are kept safe and that their plans meet their needs, with up-to-date records and the necessary training provided.
* Participating in the on-call rota, averaging 1 on-call per week, with an additional allowance for on-call shifts.
To be a successful Senior Support Worker, you’ll need:
* Patience, compassion, and resilience – support may involve working with children who have experienced trauma.
* Great communication skills – both verbal and written, to update plans and liaise with various stakeholders.
* A driving licence – ability to drive children to activities; company vehicles are provided.
* Flexibility – the role requires sleep-in shifts; you can work your full week in 2-3 days.
* Ideally a qualification in residential childcare. If not, you should obtain one within your first 2 years; training will be paid for and supported if needed.
