Junior Landscape Designer Job in Winchester, Hampshire
A is now available. The role would focus on the design of classical private gardens across historic estates, private homes and listed properties.
Established over 25 years ago, this design-led landscape studio specialises in high-end private residential projects across the South of England. Their work spans country gardens, listed buildings, rural estates, and new homes, often in close collaboration with architects, planners, and interior designers. Renowned for their thoughtful, research-driven approach, the team creates designs rooted in the history, architecture, and wider context of each site. Combining traditional design principles with extensive horticultural expertise, they craft gardens that are both inspiring and enduring. They are now seeking a Junior Designer to join the team, an opportunity well suited to someone with a passion for traditional garden styles and a desire to grow and develop within the role long term.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Support design across all project stages: concept, detail, and build monitoring
2. Work directly with clients, attending meetings and site visits throughout the project
3. Work on gardens surrounding listed buildings, country estates and rural homes
4. Contribute to planting design and material selection
5. Liaise with architects, contractors and gardeners to ensure design integrity
6. Represent the practice with clarity and professionalism.
Required Skills & Experience
7. 1 years’ experience in UK Landscape projects is essential
8. Experience in traditional garden design is highly beneficial but not essential
9. Plant knowledge and understanding of seasonal planting
10. Confident presenting ideas and liaising directly with clients
11. Experience or interest in the traditional/classical garden design principles is essential
12. Proficient in Vectorworks (training offered); 3D skills are a bonus
13. Comfortable collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
14. Driving licence required for site visits
