Reporting to the Director of Programmes & Service Delivery, the Test Assurance Manager will play a pivotal role in establishing and developing Xoserve’s new Testing Governance and Test Assurance function. As the first appointment within this function, the Test Assurance Manager will be responsible for defining Xoserve’s Testing Strategy, shaping the scope and remit of the Test Assurance Team, and laying the foundations for its future growth. Once established, the team will assure software testing across Xoserve’s portfolio of applications and solutions. The role will also drive value for Xoserve’s customers by ensuring processes and procedures reflect industry best practice, while fostering effective collaboration with suppliers, internal teams, and external stakeholders. Role Accountabilities Define and lead the Test Assurance function – Develop Xoserve’s Test Assurance Strategy, Standards, Governance, Processes, and Policies in line with industry best practice. Establish the operating model, recruit and develop the team, and provide ongoing leadership and direction. Provide governance and oversight of testing – Ensure all test activities are planned, executed, and reported effectively, with clear accountability for quality. This includes oversight of test strategies, plans, defect management, and delivery against business, technical, and regulatory requirements. Drive consistency and continuous improvement – Champion the effective use of processes, tools, and technologies (including automation), embedding a culture of quality and ongoing improvement across Xoserve and its suppliers. Manage documentation and reporting – Oversee the creation and maintenance of test documentation (e.g. strategies, test cases, assurance reports), and provide clear visibility of test progress, risks, and outcomes to senior stakeholders. Engage and collaborate with stakeholders – Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, internal teams, and senior leadership to align testing activities, increase transparency, and ensure assurance adds value across programmes Key skills & Experience ISTQB certification mandatory (Foundation level or above) Demonstrated involvement in developing test strategies, even if not as the lead—from requirements through to implementation Proven experience in establishing or maturing Test Assurance or QA functions Strong testing and tooling expertise — encompassing governance, standards, defect management, test planning, execution, and reporting; including familiarity with both manual and automated testing processes Sector-specific experience in the UK energy industry; gas sector knowledge is a distinct advantage Excellent stakeholder management skills — able to build alignment and transparency across internal teams, senior leadership, external suppliers, and customers Experience producing clear test documentation and assurance reports What we offer: A competitive annual salary up to £62,000 per annum (based on skills and experience).
