Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - SolidWorks / Sheet Metal Design Redline has been retained by a global leader in critical power and power generation solutions who are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding R&D team, based on site in Burton on Trent. Due to continued growth and increasing demand, our Burton on Trent based client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop, and optimise sheet metal enclosures and mechanical components for advanced power generation systems. Responsibilities for this Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role: Design and model sheet metal enclosures, brackets, panels and housings for power generation equipment using SolidWorks. Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings for manufacturing, assembly and quality inspection purposes. Select materials, fasteners and manufacturing methods to ensure structural integrity, thermal performance and cost efficiency. Work closely with electrical and software engineers to integrate mechanical and electronic components. Develop and maintain CAD libraries, templates and design standards for consistency across projects. Key skills and experience required for this Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role: Strong professional experience designing sheet metal enclosures for industrial or power generation equipment. Control Systems or Shipping containers would be good too. Proficiency in SolidWorks, including sheet metal modelling, assemblies and drawing creation. Understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerances, fasteners and materials selection. Experience with DFMA, thermal analysis, stress analysis and prototyping.
