Internal Recruiter – Sizewell at Galldris Group
Galldris Group is looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Sizewell C team in Suffolk. The ideal candidate has a Construction or Civil Engineering background and has worked as a Senior Engineer in a Civil Engineering Highways environment.
Reporting to the Site Agent/PM, the Senior Engineer will manage the engineering of a project, ensuring works are constructed to the contract drawings, specifications, procedures and plans, whilst managing site and trainee engineers.
Key Accountabilities
* Manage the engineering on a construction project and coordinate site and trainee engineers.
* Ensure construction meets contract drawings, specifications, procedures and plans.
* Lead safety, quality and HSEQ matters.
Experience & Knowledge
* Previous experience as Senior Engineer or similar for a civil engineering contractor.
* Experience in general civils within a highway environment including site clearance, drainage & service ducts, earthworks, pavements, kerbs & footways and street lighting.
* Good knowledge of CDM regulations and temporary works.
* Strong knowledge of specifications and testing regimes for general civil engineering / highway works.
* Commercially aware and experienced in a cost‑conscious environment.
Skills
* Good communication, people and team management skills.
* Ability to speak up on HSEQ matters and lead by example.
* Proficiency in Fieldview / Dalux or similar web and mobile BIM software.
* Proficiency in design software such as AutoCad / Autodesk / SketchUp (desirable).
Qualifications
* Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
* Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers or working towards membership (desirable).
* IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS certification.
* Valid CSCS card.
* Full UK driving licence.
Health, Safety & Environment
* Write / check RAMS and TBS, communicate to workforce and monitor compliance.
* Contribute to Galldris’ safety targets and zero‑tolerance of unsafe work.
* Establish and implement site systems and controls consistent with company and project standards.
* Check permits issued by the principal contractor and ensure they are received promptly.
* Review look‑ahead programmes and report feedback.
* Report site issues that may delay programme or progress.
* Assist in preventing, identifying and rectifying issues that may impact the programme.
Design & Design Assurance
* Permanent design – familiarise with design drawings, specifications and set‑out requirements; ensure accurate construction.
* Temporary works design – liaise with TWC, identify temporary works requirements, produce design briefs and communicate designs to the site team.
* MARs – raise Material Approval Records and procure materials within the programme.
* TQs – raise queries from drawing and specification reviews and site inspections, produce sketches where required.
Quality Management
* ITPs – write/check ITPs, communicate to workforce and verify compliance.
* QA Records – keep organised and accurate QA records in line with ITPs and project requirements.
* NCRs & defects – lead documentation, tracking, closing out, and share lessons learned.
* Quality handover documentation – collate information as per ITPs and handover requirements.
* Quality readiness reviews – lead reviews and capture lessons learned/improvements.
