Job Overview
The successful post holder will be a highly motivated team player with previous medical secretarial experience, sound administrative and clerical skills, excellent computer literacy and strong verbal and written communication skills. The role involves general support of typing, audio typing, digital dictation, administrative duties and coverage for colleagues, all while maintaining patient confidentiality and meeting deadlines.
Responsibilities
* Typing correspondence, clinic letters and reports accurately within departmental time‑limits, using medical terminology and secretarial procedures.
* Performing audio typing and digital dictation for all aspects of surgery and other clinical areas.
* Managing consultants’ diaries electronically, arranging meetings, and providing briefing on upcoming commitments.
* Monitoring annual and study leave for consultants and junior doctors, and updating relevant colleagues on leave requests.
* Taking minutes of departmental meetings and ensuring clear, concise communication.
Qualifications & Experience
* Previous experience as a medical secretary or in a similar administrative role.
* Strong organisational and time‑management skills with a flexible approach to work.
* Excellent computer literacy: Microsoft Office, Med Secs, CWS and relevant databases.
* Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and work to deadlines.
* Fluency in English; knowledge of Welsh is desirable.
