This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. You will be required to cover variable days and weekends to meet business needs.

About the Role

The key responsibilities of the Theatre Practitioner will be to focus on patient-centric care, participating in the entire pathways for all patients from pre-admission, surgery, and post-operative management. If you are a registered nurse or operating department practitioner, we can provide training and professional development to benefit your career.

You will be an experienced Theatre Practitioner undertaking preoperative assessment, diagnostics testing, and theatre scrub under AfPP good practice guidance.

Ideally, you will have proven experience as a Scrub Practitioner in Ophthalmic theatres; however, our clinical education team can provide training and mentorship for your transition into working within our ophthalmic/cataract surgical centres.


We are looking for someone who can:

* Establish a compassionate environment by providing support to patients, friends, and families
* Prepare clinical areas for clinical activities daily
* Assist surgeons in the delivery of ophthalmic care
* Manage patient admission and discharge on theatre days
* Be proactive, eager to learn, and passionate about delivering quality care
* Have effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Thrive in a team environment


To be successful in this role, you will need:

* Previous theatre experience is required. Ophthalmic scrub experience is preferred but not essential, as full training is available for suitably qualified RGNs / ODPs with at least 2 years of post-qualification clinical experience in a secondary care setting or similar.
* Evidence of relevant professional development, preferably evidenced by certification, RN with valid NMC Registration / ODP with valid HCPC Registration
* Up-to-date knowledge in your area of practice
* Proficiency in PC use, including software and systems
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* A passion for delivering first-rate patient safety and care
