Care Assistant
Hill Care is looking for a Care Assistant to support residents at Whiston Hall Residential Home, Whiston.
Location
Whiston Hall Residential Home, Chaff Close, Whiston.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications

* Valid Police Check and the POVA List check (where applicable)

* Relevant Vocational Qualification (achieved / working towards)
* Experience of working with the relevant client group
Main Responsibilities
* Support and assist residents with bathing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and other aspects of daily living.
* Assist residents with physical, emotional and spiritual care, ensuring dignity and comfort.
* Help residents with limited mobility, using aids where useful.
* Monitor residents who may be confused or have behavioural problems.
* Promote continence and assist with care for residents who are dying or have progressive illness.
* Complete written daily records as instructed.
* Engage residents in social activities and hobbies.
* Answer nurse‑call system, telephone, and door as required.
* Report residents’ well‑being under supervision of senior care staff.
* Carry out regular checks on residents at intervals set by senior staff.
* Welcome visitors, provide refreshments and assistance.
* Change and maintain beds, rooms and medication as per policy.
* Keep equipment such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles clean.
* Assist with clothing, bedroom arrangements and safe handling techniques.
* Maintain privacy and dignity for dying and bereaved residents.
* Assist with meal times, including handling swallowing difficulties.
* Escort residents to and from the Care Home on outings or hospital visits.
* Safeguard residents’ personal and financial affairs.
* Support rearrangement of residents’ bedrooms, respecting safe moving and handling.
Communication
* Participate in staff and client meetings as required.
Training and Development
* Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
* Attend mandatory training days/courses onsite or offsite.
* Partake in relevant N/SVQ training to achieve required qualifications.
Health & Safety
* Report illness of infectious nature or accidents to the Home Manager or Person in Charge.
* Understand and implement the Care Home’s Health and Safety policy and emergency procedures.
* Notify the Home Manager or Handyperson of faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or hazards.
* Promote safe working practice, protect the Care Home’s reputation, and safeguard confidential information.
* Notify management of inability to report for duty at least two hours before shift start.
* Maintain security of the Care Home at all times.
* Adhere to all company policies and procedures within defined timeframes.
* Keep equipment clean and well‑maintained.
* Carry out any other tasks reasonably assigned.
