Contract Type: Fixed Term for 12 months

Working Hours: 37 Hours, Monday – Friday

Worker Type: Mobile worker

About the Role

To complete a Warehouse apprenticeship in a specified timeframe and gain on the job knowledge and experience. You will develop and apply characteristics of the NCC agreed behaviours and values in all activities and actively and effectively promote the Council’s vision, values, aims, objectives and priorities, putting our citizens first through the delivery of best value services.

Key accountabilities:

To undertake on-site training alongside and under the supervision of a qualified Stores Person in all aspects of warehouse work, including;

1. Responsibility for the safe handling of goods and the accuracy of putting stock away in the correct locations.
2. Accuracy of picking products in accordance with the orders received. This may include the packing of goods and ensuring product is not damaged.
3. Responsible for the whole process of incoming goods, storage and outgoing orders.
4. Learning to operate different forms of mechanical handling equipment such as forklift trucks, cranes, pallet trucks and reach trucks. You will learn to operate all equipment in a safe manner and be aware of any specific regulations which may apply to the products handled.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

5. Experience of working in a team and individually.
6. The ability to demonstrate capacity to organise self/materials/tasks, use own initiative, prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
7. The ability to understand measurements and carry out calculations including formulae.
8. Good interpersonal skills - to listen and respond to instructions and questions clearly and logically.
9. Is customer-focused and show a desire to deliver excellent customer service.

When will my apprenticeship start?

You will need to be available to commence your apprenticeship 7th September 2026.

Entry / eligibility requirements:

10. You will need to be able to provide evidence of Maths and English qualifications at grade C/5 or above upon request - Please ensure you specify these grades in your CV/supporting statement. If you do not hold these qualifications already you must be willing to work towards completing functional skills level 2 in addition to the apprenticeship. If these certificates are not UK based please also provide the UK ENIC statement of comparability Statement of Comparability.
11. You must be willing and able to start work anywhere within the Nottingham City boundary for 8am, as required by the organisation.
12. Successful candidates must be committed to attend college in person at a location of NCC choosing to obtain the Warehouse level 2 apprenticeship.
13. You will need to be a minimum of 16 years old by August 31 2026. There is no upper age limit.
14. You cannot hold a qualification of the same level and subject already.
15. To show commitment to gaining a driving license before completion of the apprenticeship.
16. Non-UK nationals must have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years, and not resident for the purposes of education, to be eligible for this role.
