Aircraft Structures Technician
RAF Brize Norton Carterton, Oxfordshire, OX 3LX
Permanent, Full time, Monday – Friday, hours per week (7. – .)
9-day fortnight (days stand down days per year)

The bay is responsible for RAF Brize Norton C- aircraft airframe structural and composite repairs, metal fabrication, and damage assessments. Work is carried out within the structures bay and on the aircraft, both in the hangar and on the line. The team works at height and in confined spaces on the C aircraft.
At RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, Serco has been providing multi-activity and engineering support since 7. Serco proudly supports the RAF and MoD, supplying various services onsite, from engine and aircraft maintenance to fueling and ground control services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Air Force, providing air transport and refueling to the RAF fleet. As an Aircraft Structures Technician, you will contribute to this vital work and be part of a wider team of 5 service personnel, 1 contractor, and civil servants.
Main Accountabilities:
* Deliver metal rectification, including damage assessment, frame skin replacements, damage repairs, structural component changes, corrosion removal, manufacturing repair parts, drilling, countersinking, riveting, close tolerance work, and bolting of replacement parts.
* Operate workshop machines and hand tools used in airframe structural work and metal repair.
* Interpret and work from engineering drawings, manuals, and work instructions.
* Use IT software to access technical information and maintenance records.
* Document all work performed and maintain accurate records.
* Collaborate with team members and departments to ensure workflow and quality.
* Ensure repairs and rectification tasks are correctly certified, with complete records.
Requirements:
* Working knowledge and experience of metal rectification; previous aircraft experience is desirable but not essential.
* Completed a recognized Civilian Engineering or Aviation BTEC/ONC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or military course in Aircraft Engineering.
