The role Are you an expert in database technologies with a passion for ensuring data integrity and system performance? Southern Housing is on the lookout for a seasoned Senior Database Administrator to play a pivotal role in shaping our data landscape. Reporting to the Database & Integration Manager, you'll lead technical excellence by maintaining and optimising our corporate databases in line with ITIL best practices and industry standards. You'll also drive innovation, stability, and reliability across our data platforms - becoming a cornerstone of our continuous improvement strategy. Key responsibilities include: Data Integrity and Availability: Aim to ensure the availability, reliability, and integrity of data provision. System Monitoring and Housekeeping: Monitor and maintain systems to ensure availability, performance, integrity, stability, and recoverability, writing new routines where appropriate. Backup and Recovery: Ensure scheduled backups and recovery solutions are in place and tested to meet recovery requirements. Documentation: Complete and maintain all relevant technical and procedural documentation to ensure efficient service delivery. What you'll need Experience of managing Microsoft SQL Server databases in a production environment. Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server High Availability solutions. Knowledge of Progress OpenEdge RDBMS. Demonstrable experience in tuning and managing database security in a production environment. Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team Ability to find root causes of problems and quickly determine efficient solutions.
