Senior Early Years Educator
Join us as we expand our wonderful team. We are looking for an experienced and inspirational Early Years Educator who loves creating a positive, nurturing and fun environment for children. We are seeking a proactive person committed to providing high-quality care and education in a well-established, supportive and inclusive setting.
Overview of the role
We are looking to appoint a flexible, energetic, conscientious and dedicated professional. You will need to have excellent communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively with children, staff and parents.
The ideal candidate must have experience of working within an early year setting and must hold a full and relevant Childcare and Education qualification at minimum level 3 and ideally hold or be willing to work towards a leadership and management qualification. The position will be 37.5 hours per week, working between the hours of 7.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday. Starting salary £27,709.50 depending upon experience.
As a Senior Early Years Educator at Chilton Meadows Day Nursery, you will contribute to the well-being and development of children in our care. You will be an integral part of the team dedicated to creating a positive and engaging learning environment aligned with Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
Key responsibilities
• Lead your designated room, ensuring it is set up appropriately and ensure all policies and procedures are followed by your team.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development.
• Assessments and observations reflecting on children’s learning and development.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of children under your care.
• Maintain open and effective communication with parents, caregivers and team members.
• Foster positive relationships with children, promoting a sense of security and belonging.
• Carry out personal care routines for children and administer medications when needed, recording the information in written form and upload onto our online system.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
• Relevant qualifications in childcare or Early Years Education Minimum Level 3 qualification.
• Minimum level 2 English and Maths.
• Registered DBS.
• Commitment to CPD.
• Competent ICT skills.
Desirable Qualifications and Requirements. Additional training will be provided.
• Current Paediatric First Aid.
• Level 2 or above in Leadership and Management or similar or an interest in working towards.
• Lead room experience.
• Up to date Safeguard Training

Situated in Chilton Moor, Houghton-le-Spring, we’re a family run children’s nursery founded over 20 years ago, and we’re looking to welcome a Level 3 Early Years Educator to join us on an exciting chapter of expansion and opportunities for progression.
Chilton Meadows Day Nursery is a 35 place Nursery rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, providing stimulating and enabling environments for children aged 0-5 years old. We are proud that Ofsted highlighted that children are happy and thrive at Chilton Meadows Day Nursery and staff treat children as part of their family.
Our opening times are 7.00am – 6.00pm, five days per week, working hours are fulltime and flexible. Nursery has a large garden and outdoor areas which we use throughout the day to promote and encourage the children to discover and explore the natural materials.
We have four rooms, The Nest baby room, The Duckling room, The Puddle Duckling room and The Puddle Duck preschool room.
